C E R T I F I C A T I O N   R E Q U I R E M E N T S

CCMC will help you to apply for and receive the Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential. Learn what the credential means to other case managers and how they measure its value.

The information below delivers an overview of the background and experience needed to qualify for the CCM credential. However, since the application fee is not refundable, it is strongly recommended that you download and read thoroughly the complete CCM Certification Guide.

To earn the designation of certified Case Manager (CCM), applicants must:
•
Possess a good moral character.
•
Meet acceptable standards of practice.
•
Provide a job description for each case management position held.
•
Meet the Continuum of Care requirement.
•
Hold an acceptable license or certification (see the CCM Certification Guide) based on a post-secondary degree program in a field that promotes the psychosocial or vocational well being of the persons being served.
•
Insure that the license or certification grants the ability to practice without the supervision of another licensed professional.
•
Perform the following essential activities of case management (more detailed descriptions of these activities and components are found in the CCM Certification Guide):

assessment
•
coordination
•
planning
•
monitoring
•
implementation
•
evaluation
•
outcomes
•
general
Over a minimum of five of the six core components:
•
case management concepts
•
case management principles and strategies
•
psychosocial and support systems
•
healthcare management and delivery
•
healthcare reimbursement
•
vocational concepts and strategies
•
Satisfy the necessary employment experience.
•
Demonstrate that they possess acceptable minimum knowledge by achieving a passing score on the CCM examination.
