Listed below are some frequently asked questions concerning certification. Should you have additional questions or need clarification we are here to help.
I have a certificate from a program I took at a college or university. Does this count as a license or certification when I apply for my CCM?
No. A certificate is given at the end of a course of study or class. An exam may or may not be necessary to be given the certificate. A certification requires an examination as well as continuing education to maintain it, and is issued by a state, federal, or individual credentialing organization.
My organization is certified through JCAHO. Does this mean I'm certified as a case manager?
No. JCAHO and URAC, through their accreditation process, do "certify" organizations in areas such as case management and disease management. However, true "certification" relates to an individual's professional credentials, rather than an organization's achievement.
