Case Management practice guidelines are contained in two key documents:
- The Standards of Practice for Case Managers (CMSA, 2002)
- The Code of Professional Conduct for Case Managers
The Standards of Practice document, developed by the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and supported by CCMC, provides a framework for case-management roles in a variety of settings and specialties. It is a working tool for the preparation, management, and evaluation of case management services. To obtain The Standards of Practice for Case Managers document and to find out more about CMSA check out the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) page.
Certified case managers must demonstrate adherence to certain standards of conduct. The Code of Professional Conduct for Case Managers stipulates appropriate standards of conduct through three kinds of standards:
- Principles
- Rules of Conduct
- Guidelines for Professional Conduct
