  • Fall 2008 – First Administration of the Exam via CBT

Computer-Based Testing (CBT)

CCMC has offered the Certified Case Manager (CCM) certification examination in paper-and-pencil format since the first exam was given in 1993. There are currently over 26,000 CCMs nationwide.

The April 2008 certification will be the last paper and pencil administration. CCMC is partnering with Prometric to deliver the certification examinations electronically, starting with the Fall 2008 examination cycle.

There are many benefits to computer-based testing (CBT):

1. More flexibility in site locations. Previously, only 65 exam sites were available. Now there are over 300 locations nationwide for you to schedule at a location convenient to you.
2. More flexibility in choosing when to take the exam. Rather than requiring you to take the exam on a particular date and time, you will have your choice of seating over the course of a week-long window.
3. More opportunities to apply. The exam will be offered in three windows per year, as opposed to the two dates currently offered.
4. Shorter exam. Prometric has demonstrated that the exam can be shortened without sacrificing examination reliability or validity. The current 6-hour exam will be reduced to approximately 3 hours.
5. Faster results. Rather than waiting two months for your scores, you'll receive your score report approximately 2-3 weeks following the exam.

CCMC offers the gold standard in credentialing in case management.
