Tim Field: Contemporary Issues in Forensic Rehabilitation: Admissibility, Professional Judgment, Covid, & Estimating Economic Damages This presentation with cover several current issues in the field of forensic rehabilitation and consulting in civil cases. A review of the relevant federal laws, rules and regulations will be discussed in terms of developing admissible and sustainable testimony. Professional or clinical judgment will be discussed that takes the expert beyond the facts and data of a case and reliably decide (with guidelines) issues germane to the case. The impact of two years of COVID on employment and related factors will be covered.
Tony Morin: Stroke and Rehabilitation This presentation will cover the vocational rehabilitation process for stroke survivors including vocational rehabilitation planning and assistive technology. Tony will provide his prospective as a rehabilitation counselor and stroke survivor
Eric Lajeunesse: Adaptive Driving -Designs for vehicle modification ranging from low tech to high tech. This seminar is focused upon the process of adapting vehicles from evaluation to implementation. Eric Lajeunesse, a certified mobility consultant, will discuss the method of evaluation to identify modifications that will enable an individual with a disability to safely operate a motor vehicle
Noelle Lambert: Keynote Speaker Ms. Lambert had just completed her freshman year of college when a life-changing injury from a moped crash resulted in the amputation of her left leg above the knee. Ms. Lambert will speak about her journey and adjustment to disability which led to becoming a Paralympian.
Nick Cioe is the Director of the Rehabilitation Counseling program at Assumption College and the President of the Rhode Island Brain Injury Association. This presentation will focus on post concussive syndrome.
Robert Wilson: Robert Wilson is the President of the Workers Compensation College. The Words We Use Matter We all have certain ethical obligations when assisting injured workers following a workplace incident. Those include timely payment of benefits and the provision of prompt, accurate medical care. But there is more to it than that. We have the ethical and moral obligation to communicate effectively, making sure that the people in our care not just experience the process, but understand it as well. Effective listening is an important part of that. So are the words we use when interacting with those in our care. This session will focus on how misperceptions and miscommunication can negatively affect outcomes in the workers compensation industry and how a focus on ethical collaborative communication is the antidote.
