Mentoring

Most case managers seek board certification for professional and personal growth. And many can point to an influential person—a supervisor, mentor or colleague—who helped them along the professional pathway to certification.

After you become a CCM, you can extend your own professional development by becoming a mentor—by looking for individuals in your sphere of influence who show that spark for autonomy and have the qualities that would make a great case manager. When you invest in others, it adds to your knowledge base, too.

Mentoring works through personal connection, mutual learning, respect and shared values. Mentors walk alongside CCM candidates and ensure development of the well-prepared case management workforce that is essential to better care, lower cost and healthier patient populations.
